How it works
Nothing here is designed to catch you out.
Who owns the battery, when it works for the grid, when it is yours for the house, and exactly what happens from the moment you book to the moment you decide. If any part of this reads like it is hiding something, call and tell us; we will fix the page.
The battery agreement
When the battery works for the grid.
When it is yours for the house.
Two companies, two jobs. Imperium Adventures sizes it, installs it, and answers the phone. Solrite owns the Duracell battery and leases it to you under a Virtual Power Agreement — a VPA. Here is what that actually means, in the only three states that matter.
When the grid is healthy
The Duracell battery does VPP / grid services.
On ordinary days the battery can work as part of a virtual power plant — VPP — and do grid services. That revenue is what pays Solrite. You are not giving the battery away. The agreement is a Virtual Power Agreement (VPA) with Solrite: they own the hardware, they take the grid-services revenue, and the customer-facing side is $0 down and about $20 a month.
At night
The battery is yours for home power.
After dark, when the panels are done, the battery is there for the house — the hours you would otherwise buy back from the grid. Night use is not something you surrender so the battery can do grid services during the day.
When the grid is down
The battery is yours for backup.
If the street goes dark, the battery is yours for home power and backup. Grid services stop. A VPP does not take backup rights from you — you keep backup whether or not the battery also does grid services when the grid is healthy.
How it works
Four steps, no theatre
- 01
Send your latest bill
Before a slot locks, you upload your most recent power bill. A person reads it and confirms which Texas market your address sits in. Co-op and Entergy addresses are told immediately, not after a call.
- 02
Pick a 30-minute window
Live availability against both of our calendars, in Central time. What you see is genuinely open — nothing is double-booked behind the scenes.
- 03
We call you
Thirty minutes. We read your bill with you, work out what your panels leave uncovered after dark, and say whether storage closes enough of that gap to be worth doing.
- 04
Terms before signatures
If it fits, you get the Solrite lease terms and the install scope in writing, and time to read them. If it does not fit, that is the end of it and you owe us nothing.
The call, minute by minute.
- 0–5 min
What you already have
When the panels went in, who financed them, and whether that is a loan, a lease or a PPA. This changes the answer more than anything else on the call, so we get it out of the way first.
- 5–15 min
Your bill, read together
We open the bill you uploaded. Who sends it, what your plan pays for exports, and where the delivery charge sits. If your address is outside retail choice, this is where you hear it.
- 15–25 min
The gap, and what closes it
How much of your evening the panels are not covering, and how much of that a battery realistically would. The system backs the whole panel, so this is about hours, not about which rooms make the cut.
- 25–30 min
What happens next
If it fits, we book the site visit and you get the Solrite VPA / lease terms to read on your own time. If it does not fit, we say so and the call ends there. Both are normal outcomes.
What does not happen
The pressure tactics you are bracing for.
If you have solar, you have had this conversation before — probably at your front door. Here is the list of things we do not do, so you know what you are picking up the phone for.
- No same-day-only pricing, ever.
- No “manager approval” theatre.
- No credit application before you have read the lease terms.
- No savings figure quoted before we have seen your actual bill.
- No site visit booked just to get someone in your kitchen.
- No commission-driven upsell on capacity you will never use.
After the call
If storage fits, you get two documents: the Solrite VPA / lease terms — what they own, what you pay monthly, how grid services work when the grid is healthy, that the battery stays yours for home power at night and for backup when the grid is down, and what happens at end of term and if you sell the house — and our install scope, with an explicit list of what is not included. Read both on your own time. Take them to another installer for a second opinion; terms that only make sense in the room are not terms.
Only then do we book the site visit, check the main service panel and confirm the install against what is actually there. If you decide against it at any point, nothing happens and you owe us nothing.
